Design and Technology

Design Technology is currently offered at KS3, and offers a range of projects so that students can try out a number of different skills. Through Design Technology lessons students will understand the design cycle of designing a product to meet a brief, creating the product, evaluating the outcome and redesigning to make an improved product. The curriculum is centred around problem solving with analysis and idea generation being core elements.

Design Technology is also supplemented through the Enterprise curriculum, which allows students more time to get involved in the design process. Students work to meet a brief, including designing a product and creating the costings and marketing.

Next Steps

Following Design Technology in KS3 students can opt for Computing at KS4 to continue their journey with problem-solving and brief analysis. After Y11 students can study Design Technology and Engineering at A level.
