Geography
Key Stage 3
Years 7 and 8 have 2 periods of Geography per week; this is equal to 1 hours and 40 minutes of Geography per week.
The KS3 Geography syllabus develops the content and processes that students need to demonstrate competence in when they enter Key Stage 4 (KS4).
Each year group has continuous assessments.
Key Stage 4
Pupils follow the Edexcel 2016 9-1 specification. They learn about a wide range of Geography and consider topics in detail.
They will cover units that develop their understanding of UK and Global Geography as well as the history of the wider world. The new specification requires students to study Geographical decision making. They also develop their research skills through two fieldwork projects
They communicate their ideas clearly and precisely in a variety of ways which will equip them to study Geography beyond KS4. They will interpret, evaluate and generate a range of maps, graphs and sources. They will develop their writing skills and will be expected to display strong levels of literacy as well as numeracy.
