Key Stage 3
Years 7 and 8 have one 50 minute period of Religious Education per week.
The KS3 Religious Education syllabus develops the content and processes that students need to demonstrate competence in when they enter Key Stage 4 (KS4).
Each year group set is based on continuous assessments.
Key Stage 4
Pupils follow the Edexcel 2016 9-1 specification B. They learn about Islam and Christianity and consider the theological views of both religions in much greater depth.
They will cover units that develop their understanding of Christian theology and religious values, as well as Islam, Peace and conflict. The new specification requires students to study both religions in two different themes, Theology, and Ethics.
They will read, analyse and interpret religious texts, as well as understand 21st century secular views. They will develop their writing skills and will be expected to display strong levels of evaluative skills when interpreting different religious views.
